Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What information is needed for an Indonesia marine survey quote?
Provide the island, exact port, marina, anchorage or yard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and preferred date. Include inter-island travel, haul-out, sea trial and any insurer, lender, class or Indonesian authority requirement.
Can one surveyor cover several Indonesian islands?
Potentially, but every island visit needs an agreed flight, ferry or vessel transfer, local transport, accommodation and access plan. Do not assume a single attendance or fee covers multiple islands.
Is a private pre-purchase report valid for Indonesian statutory work?
Not automatically. Formal work can involve the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia or another authorised route depending on vessel and certificate. Confirm the exact authority and appointment first.
What if no suitable haul-out is available near the yacht?
The parties should agree whether the scope will remain afloat-only, whether divers or specialist testing are suitable, or whether the vessel must move to a facility able to support the required inspection.
Are island travel, haul-out and sea trial included?
Only when stated in writing. Flights, ferries, accommodation, local transport, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist diagnostics can be separate.
Who appoints the marine surveyor?
The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Indonesia Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.
